bunnermaids
While Bunnerflies rule the lands of their magical world, another type of bunny lives deep in the ocean waters, gentle streams, and quiet lakes. They are even more illusive than bunnerflies, and scare much easier. They love to spend time with mermaids, who graciously share the music and treasures of their kind. The Bunnermaids are naturally inquisitive, so they can spend hours adventuring with their finned friends.

As social creatures, Narbhuns regularly communicate with one another in close proximity and long distance. They rely primarily on raspberry radar. Studies show that a Narbhun can hear a raspberry blown up to 50 miles away. This is not to be mistaken with flatulence, which is used to alarm other Narhbuns to nearby threats.

A most favorite and coveted treat for Narbhuns are water-melons (not to be confused with watermelons). Narbhuns can spit water-melon seeds at speeds of up to 90 MPH. They use this ability to hunt their prey, which is typically seaweed. Though their food source shows no sign of sentience or mobility, Narbhuns insist on "hunting" it anyway. Narbhuns also use spitting as a defense against predators, so chances are high that they have at least a dozen seeds stored in their mouths to deter any hungry creatures looking for lunch.

The shy little Lavender is just waking up from their nap. They find blue seaweed especially comfy to curl up in while they catch a few winks. It can only be found in remote coves, where the sun is always shining.
The Bunnermaids love sharing their sea glass collections with one another, but it is well known by all buns that one mermaid in particular has an especially super awesome stash...
When mermaids go out foraging, they are often accompanied by many eager bunnermaids that are hoping for a snack or two. They can get a little cranky if there aren't enough sea blossoms for everybun...🐰🌸
The Bunnermaids while shyer than their land dwelling counterparts, the Bunnerflies, can easily be drawn out by a gentle melody. They are especially fond of sounds made from seashells. The mermaids know this well!
Narbhuns are well known for their rowdy horseplay and poor peripheral vision, so it's no surprise that their survival rates are quite abysmal. They have litters of up to 2 dozen pups, with only 1 or 2 living into adulthood. However, their numbers remain healthy thanks to an immense increase in durability upon reaching 1 year in age. A mature Narbhun can penetrate steel, usually by accident, and often is none the wiser to it For this reason, ship graveyards are a quick indicator of areas that Narbhun pods frequent.
